Understanding Timezones and Data Refresh Timing

Modified on Thu, 14 May at 11:41 AM

For learners studying at 10 PM on Monday (local time), the timing of when their activity appears in reports depends on their time zone. Below is a breakdown based on location:

Learners in Asia or Europe (UTC+1 to UTC+12)

  • A study session at 10 PM on Monday local time will still fall within Monday UTC.

  • Therefore, the activity is recorded in our system as Monday activity.

  • The data will be available in the dashboard on Tuesday after 12:30 PM Vietnam Time (GMT+7), following the daily data refresh.

Learners in the Americas (UTC-3 to UTC-10)

  • A study session at 10 PM on Monday local time may be recorded as Tuesday UTC.

  • For instance, 10 PM Monday in El Salvador (UTC-6) is equivalent to 4 AM Tuesday UTC.

  • Since the system treats this as a Tuesday activity, it will only appear in reports on Wednesday after 12:30 PM GMT+7, after the next day’s refresh.

Why Is There a Difference?

  • All activity timestamps are stored in UTC for consistency across global users.

  • The system performs a daily refresh at 12:30 PM GMT+7, pulling in all data from the previous UTC day.

  • As a result, depending on the learner’s timezone, a session at “10 PM Monday” could be included in either the Tuesday or Wednesday data refresh.
